Dr. Glen Spann, was born in a Methodist parsonage in Texas, later moved to Wilmore, Kentucky, where his father joined the Asbury College's administration. He earned his bachelor's degree from Asbury in 1978 and studied at The University of Texas School of Law. While in law school, he felt called to Christian ministry and completed his Master of Divinity Degree at Asbury Theological Seminary in 1983. After four years of pastoral ministry in the Texas Annual Conference of The United
Methodist Church, Dr. Spann pursued a doctoral degree in American Religious History at The Johns Hopkins University, earning his Ph.D. in 1995. Returning to Asbury College in 1992, he served as a faculty member for twenty-nine years. Dr. Spann retired from Asbury in 2021 and has been the pastor of High Bridge Union Church for the over 20 years. He and his wife, Shelley, have three sons and four grandchildren.
