The Counselor Booklet outlines the Counselor's Primary Responsibilities & Daily Schedule
Responsibilities that will require pre-planning

  • Daily Prayer Circle Devotions - 45 minutes

  • Daily Recreations Activities - 3 hour


Senior Camp Counselor Responsibilities and Guidelines:

  • Oversee that the campers complete their responsibilities each day and all day as assigned

  • Create a rotating duty chart for the campers: 

    • KP duty -- before and after all meals

    • Cleaning bathrooms – done after breakfast

    • Cleaning dorms – done after breakfast

    • Picking up the garbage – done throughout the day

  • Prayer circle – sing and read/discuss a devotional and/or scripture

  • Recreational games and activities – organize activities for each afternoon and after service, excluding Sundays


All youth should be ON TIME to all events

7:30 A.M. Rising Bell

  • all youth should be up and getting dressed

8:00 A.M. Morning Watch

  • all youth report to the tabernacle for morning devotions

  • help campers raise the flag

8:15 A.M. Breakfast

  • have prayer before entering

  • sit with the campers

  • some will stay afterwards for KP duty

8:45 A.M. Daily Clean-up

  • belongings should be put away, in suitcases/bags

  • the floor should be picked up

  • the floors should be swept

  • check the garbage and replace bag as needed

9:15 – 10:15 A.M. Youth Class

  • an adult will teach the youth

  • all counselors should meet together

    • plan prayer circle

    • plan recreation games/activities

    • discuss Mission Marathon and Talent Show the second week

10:15 – 10:30 A.M. Break

  • use the bathroom, if needed

10:30 – 11:30 A.M. Morning Worship

  • sit with the youth towards the front of the tabernacle

  • keep youth on task and sitting properly

12:00 P.M. Lunch

  • same as breakfast

After Lunch - 1:00 P.M.  Rest time

  • in dorm, cabins or guided activity with a counselor

1:00 - 1:30 P.M. Prayer Circle

  • counselors plan

  • sing, pray, share a devotion, share testimonies, have a time for questions and answers

1:30 – 4:00 P.M. Recreation

  • counselors execute their plan

  • athletic equipment can be found under the steps in the dining hall

  • games can be found in the closet of Ernest Hall

  • break for the snack shop part way through the afternoon

  • take drink/bathroom breaks as needed

4:00 – 5:00 P.M. Showers and rest

5:00 P.M. Dinner

  • same as breakfast

5:45 P.M. Dress nicely for the evening service

6:30 P.M. Choir Practice (starting on Monday)

  • counselors do not need to attend

  • song evangelist leads

  • help campers lower the flag (7:00 p.m.)

7:30 P.M. Evening Worship

  • same as morning worship

9:30 P.M. Youth Activities

  • snack store

  • counselors execute their plan

  • campfire, singing, time for questions and  answers, devotions, night games, relaxing

10:30 P.M. Youth in dorms

10:45 P.M. Lights out and doors locked

*When you have questions or need assistance, contact the youth program leader - first, Thelma Bence the board liaison – second and/or the camp manger - third who oversee the program and the running of the camp.

*Possible trips to go swimming a few times can be arranged but transportation must be sought from those adults who are on the grounds or who would volunteer to come to transport the group.

Mission Marathon

  • second Thursday

  • raise money for missions

  • campers should line up donations several days in advance from those on the grounds and who attend worship

  • two hours of physical games

Talent Show

  • second Friday after the worship service

  • all campers should participate in some manner

  • skits, singing, musical instruments, etc.

  • campers and others on the ground can participate

Recreation Game Ideas:

  • kickball

  • volleyball

  • soccer

  • softball

  • polish baseball

  • Frisbee golf/ultimate Frisbee golf

  • underground church

  • trashcan football

  • relay race

  • scavenger hunt

  • board games

  • swimming

  • capture the flag

  • sardines
